Currently I am a Professor at London South Bank University (LSBU) and Director of Refrigeration Developments and Testing (RD&T). I have 30 years’ experience of working on food refrigeration operations throughout the food cold chain. My main areas of interest are related to efficiency and energy reduction as well as design and performance of refrigeration equipment. More recently I have become involved in large scale energy storage using liquid air.
Professionally I am president of the IIR (International Institute of Refrigeration) C2 commission (food science and engineering), vice president of the CaRe (careers in refrigeration) working party and the cold chain in warmer climates working party. I am the UK, IOR representative to the IIR and also an editor of the Journal of Food Engineering.
