Robert Arthur entered the refrigeration industry with Prestcold Southern and worked in a number of roles including design engineer and contracts manager. He then joined Marks and Spencer in 1986 as a member of their in-house refrigeration team. The position involved operating with divisional responsibility in the UK plus provided additional support in both European and North American operations. During his career with Marks and Spencer he was directly responsible for the development of a bespoke refrigerated display case for the company, the development and introduction of a revolutionary maintenance strategy for store refrigeration and for the research, development and implementation of the “natural refrigerants” strategy for Marks and Spencer. He has also been past president of the BRA/FETA and a past member of the IoR council. He is now enjoying retirement.
